1,2-Dibromoethane, also known as Ethylene Dibromide (EDB) and Ethylene Bromide, is a colorless liquid with a sweet odor (CAS 106-93-4). It has been used as a fuel additive, a soil and grain fumigant, and in chemical manufacturing.

Current Regulatory Status
OSHA
Permissible exposure limit (PEL) for 1,2-Dibromoethane is 20 ppm as an 8-hour time-weighted average (TWA), with an acceptable ceiling of 30 ppm and an acceptable maximum peak of 50 ppm for no more than 5 minutes in an 8-hour shift.
NIOSH Recommended exposure limit (REL) for 1,2-Dibromoethane is 0.045 ppm TWA, with a ceiling of 0.13 ppm (15 minutes).
